A&E is a hard nut to crack. It's very unpopular due to the acute stress and working hours which Drs know reduce life expectancy. When in the EU we had a much wider pool from which Drs could come. A big wage hike needed to bring Drs in from other specialities.

They could do well to cut down on the waste. Talk to some of the Hospital Porters, they'll tell you a few things. Beds that cost a fortune for example. Something goes wrong they scrap them. Why not make them work using parts from the scrapped ones? Save thousands.
