Health officials recommend that people use fentanyl test strips and have naloxone available in case someone around you overdoses.

VIDEO: Officials issue dire warning about spike in fentanyl overdosesA spike in overdoses in North King County has health officials warning cocaine users the drug might actually contain fentanyl.

“I’ve administered more Narcan recently than you can imagine,” said Capt. Gabe DeBay, who supervises paramedics across King County for the Shoreline Fire Department.“It’s not just happening on the streets. This is happening at middle-class single-family homes, people in their 20s, people in their 50s,” DeBay said. He’s hearing more people say they thought they were using cocaine and didn’t know they were also taking fentanyl.

The agency issued an initial message to people who subscribed to alerts about the Shoreline overdoses and is now preparing wider warnings about fentanyl in powder form, directed toward occasional cocaine users who might not realize the hazard.Seven years ago, three people died of fentanyl overdoses in King County.DeBay says the fentanyl he’s seeing is now so powerful, it takes a lot more than several sprays of Narcan to block the effects.

I’d carry naloxone in my emergency kit if it was more affordable to purchase!

Why doesn’t PH recommend not taking drugs?

Yeah, instead of taking fenty off the streets, jailing dealers, removing camps and clamping on fenty sources, lets provide testing & naloxone. what can go wrong? Better yet, why don't we dispense good quality drugs to begin with, so that ppl can enjoy and not overdose, on gov $$

How about getting this stuff classified as poison and life in prison to people who deal the poison huh ?

It’s the new post COVID testing moneymaker for pharma.

Why aren’t you providing a link to the suggested test strips? Or at minimum info about where to get some? Come on…your reporting really needs a bit more polish.

Or maybe just find better friends.🙄

How about don't do coke in the first place? lol

It's their body, their choice!

Or just don't do drugs. Also, I'm note about to get sued by some cokehead because I saved their life, I'll call an ambulance and go on about my day.
