DENVER — Starting in January, Colorado employees will see more money deducted from their paychecks than previous years. The money will fund the state’s new Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance program, which was approved by voters in 2020.

This program is different than any sick leave or pandemic programs the state has operated over the past couple of years. It’s also different than the Family Medical Leave Act offered to employees. The state created a calculator tool for employees who want to find out exactly how much the program will be deducting from their pay checks each week.

Every employer will have to register with the program through the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment , however. So far, Marshall says 15,000 businesses have already successfully registered. Aries’ business is a career services and leadership development company that helps women advocate for themselves in the workplace. The business is comprised of four full-time employees, who work out of a small office in a shared workspace.

Despite being a business that empowers women, up until this point as a small business owner, Aries has not been able to offer her workers time off to start a family or care for a loved one.

Voted against this

Left just in time, dodged another!

All polis does is tax people that are already struggling! Get rid of this dirt bag

The leave has to be paid for someway and Colorado balanced budget rules apply in other words

Gotta love the liberals....let's take from everyone to pay for state funded medical care

It's less than 1 percent...

Total Bull $h!+.

How bout fuck that I pay formy child care

Tax tax tax that’s all the govt does…

Great….

Meghan_Lopez Tired of paying for corruption. Stop paying taxes. Stop this madness.

Meghan_Lopez If you can't afford the kids, don't have them. Why should Everyone have to pay for others to take off? This will be abused and shouldn't have passed.

Meghan_Lopez Why should other tax payers have to pay for people to stay home. Isn’t that what employment and disability is for ? This is getting stupid. We are all struggling to get by. How about taking it out of the house and senate reps paychecks instead. They can afford it.

Meghan_Lopez Damn looks like people should've voted yes to make weed legal in the springs so the tax from that can be put towards this bs lol Bet yall feel stupid now

Meghan_Lopez Man its my money I can do whatever I want to do with it I don’t care about some family, that’s my hard earned money 🖕🏼

Meghan_Lopez This is exactly what happens when you expect “free handouts”. Our state’s liberal politics is slowly turning us into California. Go see for yourself downtown, I remember when downtown was actually a place you wanted to go, not a drug-filled trash heap.

Meghan_Lopez That’s not fair for the jobs who don’t have paid family or medical leave!! So everybody suffers!!

Meghan_Lopez Who the f*** voted for this. You might as well pay for their college too!

Meghan_Lopez How can I sign up for a medical leave pay check when I don’t have a job? Elections have consequences

Meghan_Lopez It is another take from the people instead of the businesses they are employed by. That is where the medical leave comes from. The companies that these people work for should be paying this. Not everyone.

Meghan_Lopez We should have a choice to pay it or not pay it. In todays world and inflation on rent, mortgage, groceries, gas, medical premiums are up, medicines are up. This is so unfair its hard to live these days. Know wonder we have a high rate of homelessness.

Meghan_Lopez As a Canadian pr and American citizen, this is amazing news, just because we grew up in a place where giving our money for good reason is bad, this means more kids and women will be able to take care of their families, or go to the hospital ffs.

Meghan_Lopez We were supposed to have a vote for this. It got pushed through somehow. More money out my check in the middle of Inflatiron issues. Thanks a bunch. I have enough I pay for already for extra care if I ever need or my family needs it.

Meghan_Lopez USA in debt. Wants to help people. Understandable. Wants to take money from everyone else for their shitty decisions. Don’t take my money. I supper paid family and medical leave program. But us paying when it should be you? Ridiculous. Just figures. America. The “free country” 😂

Meghan_Lopez I didn't vote for this for you to take more money away from me to give it to other people no thank you. This is an unacceptable

Meghan_Lopez employees should have the choice to opt into this. i’m sorry, but why should i have to contribute my paycheck because karen decided to get knocked up and needs leave 🙄🙄🙄🙄
