The federal health minister on why he is still optimistic about better health\u002Dcare outcomes, despite the challenges.

“We’re talking about the health of millions of Canadians who are fearing if they fall ill, they are not going to access, for instance, a family doctor,” Duclos says in this interview with National Post’s John Ivison. “If they went to an emergency department, that it would take hours, sometimes days, to get the care they would need.”The NP Comment newsletter from columnist Colby Cosh and NP Comment editors tackles the important topics with boldness, verve and wit.

“I’m optimistic because at every level — health ministers, nursing unions, medical associations, patient groups, academics and think-tanks — there is a recognition about what we need to do,” he said.

Feds want more bureacrats The rest of us want more beds, more doctors, more nurses, more availability for care. No a surprise that the provinces walked away.

There is nothing that could convince me that giving the feds our private health care information is necessary, beneficial to the public, or that it serves the interests of maintaining a free society.

Its my health data and I DONT TRUST the Libs to have it!

IvisonJ Another study, done by Liberal friends and Liberal friendly companies. Just give the provinces the money they need vs trying to make a political power pay. Its not the Liberals money its our money for our healthcare. Not for PM who only cares about the rest of the world and jets

This was a case of a federal government strutting into a meeting and demanding the provinces do as they say in an area that falls under prov jurisdiction. The liberal gov has to accept those days are over.

What a disappointing, softball interview. So many obvious questions left delicately untouched.

IvisonJ He's trying to buy our health data?!

A western man don't need the feds around anyway.

The Empire Strikes back and the Emperors Representative was not happy. Provinces own the cake, the GoC only controls sprinkles.

The feds can’t even get clean water to reserves after how many years?, imagine the bang up job they will do fixing health care!

He's holding the provinces hostage over the plan to bring in a China style social credit system.

inky_mark Is there stings attached with all our money he gives away worldwide,, nope, only in Canada 🇨🇦

There’s no reason for the Federal Government to have our private health data. Healthcare is Provincial.

Why would the federal government need personal health information on all Canadians? And why are they threatening province's to give that information up in order to receive funds they are already required to give?

Chances are the medical profession will kill you faster than most other things.
