That’s why he’s excited about the announcement Monday that the province is opening a new day hospital in Sydney to treat people with mental health issues. “For myself, as somebody who’s had their own mental health journey and is now on the support side has been an incredible benefit. And seeing how we’re going to be able to reach so many more different people … it’s such a spectrum. The one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t really work here, so with a day hospital we can now fill in all those gaps that were once there.
Cape Breton East MLA Brian Comer, who is the minister responsible for the Office of Addictions and Mental Health, announced Monday that a new day hospital offering intensive mental health treatment is scheduled to open at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital this spring.
