The president of the Australian Medical Association has urged the public to continue isolating and wearing masks when sick, despite COVID requirements being scrapped across the country

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the dropping of mandatory isolation periods following a national cabinet discussion on Friday, saying “there’s not a role for government in running every bit of people’s lives forever.”

“Whenever there’s a new wave it has an enormous effect on hospital capacity,” Robson said. “If you are in a vulnerable place, just wear a mask. If you do get sick, try and minimise transmission by isolating.Alex Ellinghausen He said that hospitalisations were currently low because so many people had COVID over the past few months – but that number would rise as people become reinfected.“The COVID numbers look artificially low because the government has made it harder to get a PCR, and no one gives a rat about RATs,” he said.

“If we do see signs that the public health situation begins to deteriorate again ... then, of course, governments have to be prepared to go back and put appropriate measures in place.”

LOL. Trust the scientists for climate change, but optional for Covid where the Politicians know best… got it!🤣

If anyone has done the proper research over the last couple of years the credibility of AMA is at an all time low

if you wish to wear a mask do so. dont go to work if sick.. it is simple really. yet some don't get it

How can we trust the AMA now that most doctors charge $80-$90 for a 10 minutes. They pretend to care..

Big media are hiding the truth, and so is the ama_media

the free market lobby wins again..........hang the expense

Bet the business lobby and funeral industry are happy with changes to covid iso ceasing. Meanwhile ppl with disabilities are freaking out.

Fukem - We're still wearing masks in public - there's a new variant coming and it's a deusy! And the missus has cancer so......

All these experts are realising they will be irrelevant soon. Gotta keep pushing for us to be scared. Just live. Stay home if you're sick. If not go about your day. Simple stuff

I agree but I do not know whether AMA president has been living under the rock, but people had stop doing that long time ago or forgo testing.

When I'm taking my dog for a walk and he sees something scary, he hides behind me - clearly thinking that if he ignores the danger, it will magically vanish. This is the same thought process that our decision makers are using in regards to Covid. Not good enough. auspol COVID19

Until they eventually run out of paid sick leave, then they’ll return to work whilst infectious.

We need to move on. Death is a normal part of life. Does it really matter if a few extra tens of thousands of randoms pass away quietly every year?

As if that’s going to happen now. Dom has fulfilled his agenda.

When I got influenza I stayed home until I recovered. Just do the same with Covid. It’s that simple.
