Most respondents said they were okay with virtual medical care but roughly 35 per cent don't want it

While many parts of Canada are struggling with the shortage of nurses, personal support workers and other health care professionals, new polling released from the Angus Reid Institute said the shortage of family doctors has hit a crisis level across the country.

The study also reported that 14 per cent who had a doctor said they could get an appointment quickly, while one-in-three said it usually takes longer than they’d like, but if it was urgent, they could get an appointment promptly. The study quoted the Canadian Medical Association, which has called the family physician shortage “critical”. According to critics and doctors, said the study, the health care systems in Canada pays general practitioners too little and requires too much work.
