New research warns that artificial sweeteners like those consumed by millions in diet soda every day may not be a heart-healthy alternative to sugar after all.

Sept. 8, 2022 -- Millions of people consume artificial sweeteners in diet soda and other products every day, hoping to save calories from sugar. But the safety of the sweeteners has long been debated. And now a large, new study in France suggests a higher risk of heart disease is connected to them.

"These results, in line with the latest WHO report published this year, do not support the use of sweeteners as a safe alternative to sugar," said INSERM's Mathilde Touvier, who coordinated the study. The World Health Organization has reported"no clear consensus on whether non-sugar sweeteners are effective for long-term weight loss or maintenance, or if they are linked to other long-term health effects.

When you have Monsanto as the creator what should you expect? Nothing less than Agent Orange or Round Up.

Duh

..but the knowledge regarding aspartame and the like has been there!!

The study does not say any medical explanation? Do you build your studies by checking random people and ask them about their diet in the past 10 years? The study should be done by a medical institution where it supervises the whole thing and then provides real evidences ...

Yea sure, nothing is good... sugar is not healty, artificial sweetners are not good...Yeah but you can t live just with water, sometimes u want a cola zero too, the idea is not to abuse your body everyday with chemicals... consume everything but moderately...

Still believe that real food is the best.

The numbers presented are very close between the users and non-users of sugar replacements. Be interesting to find out if these numbers to into consideration the number of people with existing diabetic heart disease who began using sugar replacements.
