Oldham Athletic's Hallam Hope was attacked in the car park after his side’s game against Chesterfield at the weekend. The incident has been reported to the police. Hope has had treatment at the hospital and is expected to miss weeks of football.

A statement from Oldham read: “Oldham Athletic is sorry to have to report that our player, Hallam Hope, was the victim of a vicious assault on Saturday evening. “The matter has been reported to the Police and we have provided CCTV footage in relation to the incident.
