"But also it would provide a forum to review international evidence, new technologies, new interventions and guidelines internationally so Ireland can have a very robust dynamic response to the monkeypox outbreak."
"I believe the Oireachtas Committee on Health has an appropriate role in scrutinising the minister's plan, as well as being an important public forum for sharing and communicating information. "So that is not where Ireland wants to be, where the community wants to be, that is not where any of us want to be, but that is where we are."
She said it is the same approach that is being taken in the UK and is hopeful that the vaccine will be offered to more people as more supplies become available. The vaccine will be offered to gay and bisexual men, other men who have sex with men, as well as others at high risk of unprotected exposure.
