Ontario will announce a plan for “health system stability and recovery” this week, Health Minister Sylvia Jones said Wednesday, revealing that one part will be to expand a program that allows paramedics to avoid taking patients to the ER on every call.

“We can no longer stand by and support a status quo that cannot respond to the current challenges the sector is facing,” she said. Initial results show patients are accessing care 17 times more quickly and 94 per cent didn’t go to the ER in the few days following care, Jones said. An announcement set for Thursday by Jones, Long-Term Care Minister Paul Calandra and Ontario Health president and CEO Matthew Anderson is being billed as a new phase of the province’s “Plan to Stay Open.

Ontario expanding program allowing paramedics to take patients to places other than ER | CBC NewsOntario Health Minister Sylvia Jones says the province will expand a program that allows paramedics to avoid taking patients to the ER on every call as part of a 'health system stability and recovery' plan that will be revealed this week. WTF does that mean Ford? I need a lift to Vaughan mills, if we can do sirens so I can be there in 15 minutes that would be swell Frank Miller closed our Ontario Hospital System. In Toronto we have perhaps 3-4 dedicated sites where psychiatric patients could be taken in an emergency. These hospitals don't have the beds, premises, or staff to deal with the volumes. Note Bene! Paramedics won't get a raise.
