In a news release Tuesday, the health support bargaining team recommended its membership accept the deal. “We’re pleased to have reached an agreement for health support workers across Nova Scotia,” said Jennifer Murray, who was recently elected as Unifor’s Atlantic regional director The agreement includes a fair wage package, which recognizes some of the lowest paid classifications in health care, and improvements in shift and weekend premiums, contract language and seniority protection, the release said.Bargaining on a new contract began in December 2021 when the parties met for nine days and resumed in May 2022. After being unable to reach a deal, a conciliation officer was appointed. Conciliation meetings were held July 19, July 28 and Aug. 15.
