Ontario's health minister is emphasizing today that people in the province will always be able to access health care without paying out of pocket, a day after she came under fire for refusing to rule out further privatization in the system.

Interim NDP Leader Peter Tabuns asked Sylvia Jones in question period today if the minister thinks patients should start paying for care they now receive as a right.

However, she did not rule out - when asked - more of a role for private corporations to deliver public services, which already happens in Ontario's system. The minister's comments come in the context of the government considering various ways to deal with health staff shortages that have led to emergency departments across the province closing for hours or days at a time.

Canadians… you DO realize we pay for our healthcare through our taxes right?

Exactly but if you want better then you pay. This is sneaky business right there. Dong trust a CON

The two are not mutually exclusive. Is that what this headline is trying to suggest?

Here's a publicly funded, fully integrated health system plan, cheaper than most health insurances and ranked 1 among all OECD countries. There is no justification for having private care other than incompetence or corruption

Life expectancy, the best reason to save and fix our publicly funded health care system. Why are we going to let Ford and his lackeys to destroy it? OttawaHealthLaw ONgov ONThealth HRWcanada EthicsCanada JustinTrudeau jyduclos jjhorgan fordnation SylviaJonesMPP

Great. But there shouldn't be privatization of any form ever.

Tommy Douglas is rolling over in his grave because of the nonsense from all the double speak

People who can afford private healthcare will get medical emergencies done faster. The best doctors will go private for the money. The people who can’t afford private will get OHIP and get in line for procedures and wait a long time to see a doctor due to the shortage of drs.

This is called the Ford 'two face shuffle'. Lies on top of lies.

Yes we will be able to access healthcare through OHIP Cards. Now ask her what is being delisted from OHIP. Tests, operations etc. Is there a list of future delists?

Sorry, i live in an area of red neck convoy lovers that voted her in & that fkn seebeck too. Both In for the $$$$$$$$ not for Canada.

Privatization should be clarified. Many hospital are running out patient clinics for labs, fracture clinics, mammography departments etc at huge costs to the taxpayer. These could be done at private clinics, where many are already performed with billing to OHIP.

“Access” is one thing, Quality is another thing.

yeah bull fucking shit! I don't believe this for a sec- not one fucking second!

Opinion | Ford government plans more low wages for women health care workersThe Ford government plans more low wages for women health care workers. Ontario continues to pursue a low-wage strategy for the female health care workforce, a strategy that is quickly demolishing health care in Ontario. Opinion by Xolisiwe Ndlovu The Ford government wants to privatize healthcare. They are intentionally making this worse. What a fake story. “Plans more low wages”. Is a complete fabrication LITERALLY 100% illegal. So that tells me this is a leftwing Propaganda PEICE.
