Epidemiologist warns of 'serious situation' by fall if COVID infections aren't brought under control ottnews ottawa

Pedestrians, including one wearing a mask, walk through the ByWard Market., some of Ottawa's own health experts say the city is "running blind" right into it.

Despite possible immunity, the latest subvariants mean a higher chance of reinfection compared to previous variants from earlier this year, according to Dr. Raywat Deonandan, epidemiologist and associate professor at the University of Ottawa. "We're in kind of a new territory because we are running blind," said Deonandan. "We haven't got the same number of eyes on the situation as we did in the past, because public health has other priorities."

While it's expected to see hospitalization rates increase with higher infection rates, "it won't be as bad as it has been in the past," Graber said.Deonandan said it's also unlikely we'll see a return of pandemic restrictions because public tolerance "is very low" but added "frankly, we don't need to do that."

"I am a bit disappointed that we seem to be embracing a narrative that all is fine when in fact there are many things we can and should be doing to make sure that transmission is low," he said.

Focus on something else this is to the point of sickening

After we spent over two years listening to these same epidemiologists, how could this be? When they told us they knew what to do, could they have just been making stuff up? Maybe instead of revolving our lives around a respiratory virus, we should ignore the “experts” & move on

Keep reminding us that the vaccine is not effective.

Hey wake up fordnation!!! Wake up Dr. Moore!!!!

Remember when they told everyone to get vaccinated so we could ‘get back to normal’, and almost 90% of the population did, including many who were coerced? Now those vaccines can’t even prevent a ‘serious situation’ in the fall, despite our overwhelming vaccination rate.

Oh my God, you mean people will get a cold? The fear porn is laughable, what isn't, is the vaxx deaths and permanent injuries.

We don't care. We can't hide away forever. It's over, if you can't accept that and move on, you have mental issues.

Yeah, restrictions aren’t popular, but without them the majority of people WON’T do the right thing….even if it’s something simple like wearing a mask in public spaces. We clearly see this even as cases rise.

If everyone caught omicron wouldn’t they be over it in a week or two?

Stop

Many coughing at ottawabluesfest last night. Two people I spoke to with cough had active covid and still went as they felt ‘fine’. Clearly nobody is taking it seriously anymore. Stay home if concerned, otherwise move on. Covid is dead as is legacy media trying to fear monger.

Blah blah blah by some evil person eh lol
