Health Minister Mark Butler orders a fast-tracked review into existing vaccine deals and whether there needs to be any changes to current agreements to shore up Australia's future supplies.

Taking stock of the current vaccine contracts and supplies in the countryProviding advice about existing vaccine deals and arrangements and if there need to be any changes

Mr Butler said he made "no judgement" about the existing deals, and the focus was on making sure Australia could adapt to future developments of the disease and vaccines. "I have no reason to think that [the vaccine deals] aren't appropriate, but this is a fast-moving landscape, you know," he said. The Health Minister said that while he had not set a deadline for the review, he had made clear there was a level of urgency to it.

Australian Medical Association president Omar Khorshid said the organisation welcomed the review, adding it was essential to make sure the best treatments, such as Omicron-specific vaccines, were made available as quickly as possible in the future. "That's absolutely critical, that as soon as the new vaccines that are coming online are [shown to be] safe and effective … that we have access to them," he said.Watch

Forget the past get on with running the country. We all know the liberals stuffed up big time what’s why you were elected

And this will improve the current dilemma , how?

Obviously trying to blame the previous government for as much as possible is a much higher priority than Hospital ED chaos and ambulance ramping in multiple states. Mark_Butler_MP Seriously can you just get on with your job?

Surley you guys have more important issues to resolve, like Ambulance ramping for one

If we review all of former government’s deals especially submarine deal, the Australian will shocking…… auspol

'I have no reason to think that [the vaccine deals] aren't appropriate' But we are talking about the most rotten corrupt Government ever so....

Are we to guess the country?

How about review the damage they're doing...🙄💉💉💉💉💉

There may be more pressing issues. Like giving a second booster to a bigger cohort of the population.

While you're doing that you can revisit mask requirements. Almost 50 people dying every day. AustralianLabor

And may they also launch a thousand enquires. ICAC

'It's not about looking back and examining the rights and wrongs of the former government's approach to negotiating these contracts in the first place.' Wrong answer Mark_Butler_MP If the former government stuffed up big time, I want to know about it.

Jane Halton. A review. Hilarious. Dumb Australia. Dear oh dear...

Is anyone in the media going to look into why other countries can already get Viraleze, developed in Aus, and we still can't? auspol CovidIsNotOver Not to mention SaNOtize and Enovid, etc.

mmm... well this seems like a sensible, balanced and nuanced approach to the current and future planning of managing the ongoing covid pandemic... the new govt is covering a lot of portfolio evaluations and improvements in such a short time... keep it going...

Health First and Staying Safe.

Just wondering where and my tax money is being used

Don't trust what Labor say, but what they do 😡 Labor's history with the PBS, when last in Government, they couldn't list all medicines recommended for the PBS, let alone make them cheaper, Labor stopped listing medicines on the PBS, cut funding for mental health.

Perhaps they'll look at the manner in which Pfìzer fudged their clinìcal trial data to attain the emergency use authorisation... Doubt it though.

Much of this stems from a crisis of self-confidence as activists ceaselessly denigrate Australia's Western history, traditions and ancestry. 'It's a public health crisis': David and Goliath struggle against vaping in schoolsTeachers estimate that up to 60 per cent of students at one Western Sydney high school are vaping and they are worried about the long-term health consequences. Black market hashish. The addictive substance isn't nicotine. When I was a school it was cigarettes. Definitely much harder then as teachers would see and smell the smoke. Thanks for sharing... I have always hated cigarettes even in high school... but vaping seems way worse and going to be a big challenge for schools, students and educators...
