Health-care workers call for government help as burnout worsens and staff shortages increase

Health-care workers and health sector organizations say the high rate of burnout and staff shortages in hospitals across the country has become "endemic" — and they’re calling on the federal government to sit down with provinces and territories to find solutions.

Ontario's health care system is broken due to doug for putting money into a highway when it should go to healthcare including making ltc homes provincialy run

While hospital and healthcare administration staff are on the Sunshine List, doing fuck all.

Then govt shouldn’t have fired thousands of drs and nurses for not taking that unsafe vaccine.

KlondikePapers

hawa_salam Given that all our Conservative Premiers are hell bent on crushing the public system, it will take a massive federal stick as opposed to a federal carrot to fix healthcare.

Recognize healthcare credentials from Coast to Coast. Recognize some foreign credentials. I met a security guard in Ontario. Trained doctor who worked at American Hospital Dubai and Saudi Arabia waiting for approval to work in Ontario. We are doing it to ourselves.

Did these 🇨🇦politicians talk the truth about this recent pandemic ? Did they care about hospital staff and health care employees ? JustinTrudeau 🇨🇦 Premier of Ontario fordnation Mayor TorontosMayor John Tory

Legacy media has helped to ruin whatever was left of Canadian medical care by celebrating mandates. Oops.

And paying them more isn't the solution

A 12-, 18- or even 24-hour shift in a high-stress environment where life-and-death decisions are constantly made will lead to high turnover and staffing shortages in any work environment. 🙄

🙋it's because of unmitigated COVID. Someone tell them they need to learn to live with it, that'll help🙈

Thanks to Castro junior

In my province of Manitoba beds have closed at the same time buildings were going up. Seems the government and HSC are more interested in construction contracts and the graft that accompanies that industry than beds and actual health? The old emergency in back was bigger.

Nurses are also tired of telling sick people to go home and come back when it's bad. The funding for hospitals is linked to the number of ventilated and intensive care patients! Not at all in replacing workers at nearly unmanned care homes where 80% of fatalities originated from

That's cause most people have no empathy on our planet today! It comes from watching too much on a small screen! Back before cell phones people had to use a pay phone in a hospital or clinic or just outside! They were in close proximity to Medical Professionals & saw stress!

Better for more staff for refusing a jab that doesn't stop the spread and cut funding. Those are the cures the GOV will offer.

Federal govt needs to pour billions into health care or let some sectors privatize

Don't take half their pay for taxes... Don't take away their pay raises. That'd be a good start.

what about a little dance off between the plandemics?

They should contact Kenny. He is all over this and knows how to deal with it. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Health care has collapsed in Ottawa

According to Ontario there are by proportion just as many in hospital with covid jabbed as non jabbed. Health care workers have always been over worked. They fired many of them. All over a failed jab. There is no cure for Stockholm Syndrome.

Maybe they can hire some of CBC's fake mannequins in ICU's to do the job.

They fired them and it was supported by the media. They where forced to choose their job or a jab, a jab that doesn't stop spread, your face painter proved it. Let that reality sink in. Then try to think for yourself, think further than the end of your nose stuffed up the CBC.

Healthcare workers have been asked to constantly do more with less and we are reaching the breaking point. We need to hire more people. It's really that simple. Raise corporate taxes immediately, implement a windfall profiteering tax and get it done.

Excuse my ignorance but what the heck is compassion fatigue is that a mental health disorder ….it’s sad to say but it’s not going to get any better with the expectations of 1 to 2 m more people coming in to this country it’s not just more housing but more hospitals and doctors.

Add on top the threat from politicians that more lockdowns and mandates are coming in the fall and I'm sure health professionals are planning early retirement.

The provincial and territorial governments have most of the responsibility for delivering health and other social services. Only provincial governments have the power to pass laws governing the financing and delivery of health services to the majority of Canadians.

Manufactured crisis. Our HC system was stressed before COVID, it just broke the camels back. We will have nothing, & they will be happy. Hard hard times ahead.

Been like that for decades in Canada but exasperated more so because of vaccine mandates for nurses and doctors. Not to mention the flood of health care workers that took better paying jobs outside of Canada.

We need to ask our nurses, doctors and all health care workers what they need to stay!!!!!!!

Remove the admin side and add more frontline, but that would be job cutting and not adding lol. the bullshitter of Canada

Maybe if they rehired all those healthcare workers who were fired during the pandemic because of being unvaccinated. Could this mitigate part of the problem?

I have no idea, not my field, but maybe university students in their final year could enter the workforce early & complete their formal education in a limited capacity while working? Not simple to do but I am guessing there are thousands of students in their final year in Canada?

'There was just too many TikTok's I couldn't keep up.'

just admit it already. The entire Canadian healthcare system is bankrupt. Identify the problem, we can start solving it.

Our governments had decades to prepare for this. They knew that there would be a nursing shortage, they knew at some point a pandemic would test the system. For decades they did nothing. No political party did anything. They are all to blame and the punishment should be severe.

Stop trying to force an unsafe Vax on medical staff who for the most part know better and maybe you wouldn't have a shortage of staff. Also another idea you all could try. Walk out when the nurses in BC did it they were barely out the door b4 the government caved

Im ready to be given my job back and start working again tomorrow. Just like thousands of other nurses and health are professionald who chose bodily autonomy. Problem solved. Seems complicated

Yet Canadian governments do nothing until actually forced to do something by ignoring the building crisis. Typical!!!!

There were calls for unvaccinated nurses to be fired, many lost their jobs.

Guess they should not have sent so many on so-called ‘leave of absence’ GovernmentShootingItselfInTheFoot

Being party to vaxx genocide would be tough on anyone who still retains their soul.

After the baby boomer's die off a lot of these people will be looking for jobs.

What I'm wondering is if we are paying regular taxes for worse and worse services Feels like I'm being stolen from

Harassment & abuse from anti-vaxxers, a massive pay cut from Ford (in Ontario) & slashing healthcare funding definitely isn’t helping.

It's hard.

Health care management is the Provinces responsibility. The majority of Provinces are run by Cons who would prefer to force us into the For Profit system . It's called intentional sabotage

You people bitching about health care workers pay being too high are free to go get educated or trained and work in that sector as well. There is nothing stopping you besides your laziness and or lack of motivation and skill. Shut your mouths or go become more.

Forcing staff shortages while simultaneously forcing the rest to bullshit every patient takes it's toll.

Wake the fuck up fordnation help these people out!

The ones that are working overtime and making over a 100k a year aren’t complaining.

Not terminating 1000's of perfectly healthy FLHCW's for taking responsibility for their personal health fixes this.

But they had plenty of time to dance and make videos

Overpaid and underworked... the last two years has seen a huge drop in hospital attendance...many sitting empty...not even Covid patients...as no real treatments offered....many died due to fear of even attending medical facilities for even basic check ups...on their phones?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤡🤡🤡🤡

Oh well...increasing drinking opportunities across the country should certainly help reduce the workload. At some point we need to start looking at the big picture on issues like this.

So has it been for home caregivers, and yet the govt doesn't give a shit. Benefits would help for those in need. For a break.

Considering how much money they paid compared to us, what is to complain about?
