KOTA KINABALU: A Sabah minister has called on the Health Ministry to take immediate steps to rebuild a rural health clinic that was destroyed in a fire.

Sabah Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya said this was to ensure the healthcare needs of residents in the interior Sook sub-district and surrounding areas were taken care of following the fire at the Mansiat health clinic.

“As such, I urge the Health Ministry to give the necessary attention over this matter and act immediately to rebuild the Mansiat health clinic,” he said when met during an event in the interior Keningau district on Thursday . Following the incident, Sabah Health director Datuk Dr Rose Nani Mudin said residents who depended on the clinic will now need to travel to the nearest facility namely the Tulid health clinic some 30km from Sook town.
