: The Selangor government through the district health offices will monitor childcare centres in the state more closely so that the spread of hand, foot and mouth disease is controlled.

As of May 21, she said a total of 13,262 HFMD cases were recorded with Petaling district registering the highest number of 4,155 cases, followed by Hulu Langat and Gombak , apart from 419 of the total cases being admitted to wards. State Education and Technology Committee chairman Datuk Rais Yasin said however, no school or class closures had been ordered so far because the outbreak was still under control.
