A relative of a patient waiting to get into Ipswich Hospital in the state's south-east on Friday night took a photo of the ambulances waiting to offload patients, laying bare the extent of the problem.

The SA health crisis is credited for landing Labor Premier Peter Malinauskas the top job at the recent election. That means every second ambulance waits longer than recommended.
