After struggling to walk from his bedroom to the bathroom, he found his wife, former RTE presenter Theresa Lowe, who called A&E.

Frank NcNamara shared that he had trouble breathing before he was diagnosed with having a “tennis ball” sized tumour.

His son was able to bring him to the hospital where he was put on oxygen and doctors discovered he had cancer. While the surgery was intended to be “non invasive”, Frank shared that he ended up with 19 holes in his body. “Then for the second op, they go into the chest and remove most of the oesophagus and all the nodes, then pull the stomach up into a banana shape and replace the oesophagus with it. So the stomach ends up in the chest and is much smaller in capacity.”
