Public Health Ontario reports 195 ongoing outbreaks in long-term care homes, 74 in hospitals and 70 in retirement homes

cases in the province, but warns the figure is an underestimate of the virus’s actual presence in the community.Public Health Ontario says the number of infected people is likely higher than what it is reporting because recent policy changes have made COVID-19 testing less accessible just as cases linked to the Omicron variant are soaring.It also shared that there are 195 ongoing outbreaks in long-term care homes, 74 in hospitals and 70 in retirement homes.

The numbers come days after the province changed its guidelines around government-funded COVID-19 testing, limiting eligibility to high-risk groups.

We must act as our own circuit breaker. A ten work day halt would slow down the spread and allow hospitals and schools time to put tighter controls and plans in place. Our government has failed us. It’s up to us now.

Ontario sets new COVID-19 record as Public Health Ontario reports 18,445 more casesThe organization is reporting 18,445 more COVID-19 cases today, up from the previous record set just a day earlier when there were 16,713 infections reported And this is from before the holidays. Doesn't include backlog. Doesn't include those who couldn't find a test. What a mess. If you don’t post hospitalization numbers, it’s because they aren’t scary enough. Case-demic in full effect.
