Queensland Health has confirmed a person has tested positive to COVID-19 in Goondiwindi in the state’s southern border region.Local authorities said a public health alert had been issued for a COVID-19 case in GoondiwindiThe Goondiwindi region has the highest vaccination rate in the state at 81.5 per cent

The region's mayor, Lawrence Springborg, said in a statement that health authorities were working to identify and notify any close contacts, as well as exposure sites, as they became available. "At 81.5 per cent fully vaccinated [as of 31 October 2021], our community has done all it can do to prepare and I am confident that this will serve us well."

Mr Springborg said that, as a precaution, he had asked council staff to limit interactions with others.
