The liquor sale restriction guidelines prohibiting sundry shops, convenience stores and Chinese medicine halls in Kuala Lumpur from selling hard liquor were first brought up on Nov 15, 2020.
Initially set to be enforced on Oct 1, the ban was postponed for a month to finalise a study of the guidelines. The new guidelines on liquor sales now only allow sundry shops, convenience stores and Chinese medicine halls to sell beer from 7am to 9pm. Business owners must prepare a separate display space and sales area for beer and this must be locked or barred after the allowed time for the sales of beer.
For Chinese medicine halls, the sale of mixed or pure liquor for medicinal purposes must obtain the approvals from the Health Ministry.
What's the conclusion of the studies? Did they study?
