Allow interstate travel in Malaysia only after hospital admissions, use of ICU beds lower to 50pc, MMA tells Putrajaya

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 — The Malaysian government should only lift restrictions on interstate travel only after the rate of patients being hospitalised and admitted into intensive care units reduce to around 50 per cent, the Malaysian Medical Association has reportedly said.quoted MMA president Dr Koh Kar Chai as saying that the government should also consider the hospitalisation rate in each state and federal territory, on top of Covid-19 vaccination rates.

Dr Koh was reported saying that many who go on interstate travel would be going back to their hometowns and that their gatherings with families could involve those who are unvaccinated, while face masks would usually be taken off. He also pointed out that experts have warned of a surge in cases in countries entering the endemic phase for Covid-19 and that Singapore, which has a high vaccination rate, is now seeing a rise in cases, adding that Malaysia must be well prepared for such a possibility.

No !! Mental health is equally important . Majority already vaccinated, get life and live with it and dont get people anxious .

There's no data to prove that interstate travel is a major cause of infection. Need to granulise the directive. Allow legitimate reasons eg family visits, emergencies, work and business. Leisure only for private vehicles

Is MMA going to pay salary to the laid off workers? Settle outstanding house rents? Put food on the table? Tourism industry needs interstate guests.

Shut up la MMA your ‘advices’ are always ill-timed, how come can go langkawi but cannot do interstate travel Just come up with proper strict SOP la. Dont go messing with govt’s plan boleh tak?

It’s better for you to be silent.

What happens if it then increases to over 50% - shut again?

That's Malaysian way , celebrate before we achieve anything. If the case rise again, rakyat will point the finger to everyone except themselves... mental health ? There will be no mental health if people die.

I would prefer Covid bed utilization to drop below 20 percent. Coz once we open up it will rise again and we need buffer.

So we keep people locked up indefinitely and let mental health issues escalate! How’s the economy going to recover? The world is opening up. There should be no more excuses as we have the vaccine and the majority are vaccinated

mulai 15 okt akan masuk 6k pljr ..kemudian secara berfasa sehingga sem2 dijangka semua pljr akan masuk, sekiranya keadaan mengizinkan

NO thanks, MMA. Mental health recovery is very important to everyone. Allowing interstate travel will be top priority. I belive our public and private health facility can cope high hospitalisation.
