Dal Babu is wrong to suggest that the British Association for Shooting and Conservation should not provide its members with details of fellow members who are doctors and are willing to provide medical verification for a firearms certificate . The shooting community has an obvious interest in ensuring public safety. Without it, responsible and legal shooting as we know it would not exist.

Why should GPs take on this work? It’s nothing to do with them. They have their own work to do. If you want an assessment you can jolly well pay for it

Reasonable: GPs are not qualified to do the psychological assessment needed to say if a person should own weapons or not.
