PETALING JAYA: About 72% of the new Covid-19 cases in Selangor were diagnosed from tests conducted in private clinics or labs, says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

"This indicates that the level of awareness has increased to conduct Covid-19 tests, especially if there are symptoms," he said in a statement on Sunday .

Of the 8,500 new cases detected in Selangor, Dr Noor Hisham said 4,884 cases were screenings of close contacts while 3,440 cases were from other screenings and another 175 from cluster screenings.There were also another 92 deaths, with a cumulative of 7,994 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic last year.
