What you need to know about the AstraZeneca vaccine. covidvaccine covidvaccines covidvax Here's what doctors and Australian political leaders have to say about this vaccine: And, if you're under 40, consider this:

Victorian Health Minister Martin Foley blamed Mr Morrison for starting a “rushed conversation” by announcing the change on Monday night without talking to others.

The federal government said the indemnity scheme had been backed at various times by the AMA, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the medical experts advising on the vaccine rollout, known as the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation . “It’s an acknowledgement that many are assessing their risk and benefit, making an informed decision, and protecting themselves and the broader community,” he said.

Health Minister Greg Hunt said there was no change to the health advice about AstraZeneca and national cabinet had been told of the indemnity scheme before it was announced on Monday night. In that case, the benefits of vaccination were likely to outweigh the risks. People under 60 also have to make an informed decision based on an understanding of the risks and benefits.

‘Mangled the message’: Doctors say political leaders are driving vaccine fearsThe Australian Medical Association warns the Prime Minister has mangled the message around the AstraZeneca vaccine, while state premiers were being “unhelpful”. The display from the PM and the State Premiers and CHOs today was nothing short of obscene. Massive win for anti vaxxers and made our exit from this pandemic even murkier and more hopeless. Qld CHO should be ashamed of her talking points about AZ and risk of death. On BBC Newsnight one of your top COVID guys said AZ vaccine ineffective against Indian Variant, what an idiot. Real life test show equal to Pfizer and high efficacy. U.K. all got AZ apart from Women under 40, Oz only giving over 60s. Get a grip & get it out there PDQ it’s coming
