Medical experts are calling for greater military presence to help ramp up Australia’s coronavirus vaccine rollout.

, is likely to put greater pressure on the program, particularly towards the end of the year, before the arrival of more supplies of the alternate Pfizer and Moderna jabs.

Professor McLaws says the ADF should be working with general practitioners to speed up vaccine distribution. “The ADF can support the GP rollout, the GPs can help the elderly who can't make long distances to get to the hubs, and the ADF can roll out - and should be rolling out - multiple priority groups,” she said.Experts say the military’s resources and logistical expertise make it a highly effective body for the vaccine rollout.

“It's got transport, it's got health, it's got medical, it's got engineers, it's got planners, it's got command and control... It's really well suited for a crisis,” ANU Professor John Blaxland told SBS News.“The Defence Force is actually quite busy training for the prospect of a crisis … by doing this other work relating to the COVID-19 pandemic, we're actually detracting from the ability to do that,” he said.

“There's quite a lot of companies that can do this kind of work, logistics support, transport companies… just because we've had some commercial deals fall through or not work out well, doesn't mean that there aren't other opportunities out there.”

The only thing that's needed is Pfizer for everyone.

By all means LNP move at a glacial pace, you know how that thrills me.

Are they going to push it down in our throats? The problem is not the people it’s lack of trust in the vaccine and health experts..

How on earth is the ADF qualified to do this? It's almost as if there's a mindset out there that says: 'I have no clue how to solve a problem, let's call in the ADF'.

The unvaxxed need to be made clearly distinguishable from the rest of us. Too much?

ADF perfect option to help domestically during a crisis ?

1) These medical experts should look at the biggest medical workforce, which is not Drs and definitely not the military. 2) if you want to ramp up the rollout give people information & the option of either vaccine, let them decide 3) ensure stock is available to meet demand

Is there any chance we can disband Australia’s military & transfer the staff to an Emergency Services department issued with bright orange overalls?

Are they going to assist turning away people from empty vaccination clinics?

I think the issue is supply of vaccine not who’s administering it.

Yeah it's not dystopian or anything...

If I had had a different vaccine, I would be fully vaccinated long ago and as a health care worker, I should be. How will the military change that? All smirks and mirrors, oh, I forgot, announcements too.

Will they also be responsible for procurement?

Is that Dictator Dutton's idea? Asking for Victoria. LNPDisgrace

Well if the GP Network can administer 17 million flu vaccinations every year, why was the wuhan flu jab not done via them. This is not the role of the military to do such things.

The problems isn’t t people not wanting it, the problem is the supply and lack of….

'Very clear medical advice' behind age raise for AstraZeneca jab: Greg Hunt | Sky News AustraliaHealth Minister Greg Hunt says Australia “followed the medical advice” in the decision to raise the recommended age of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.\n\n“We followed the medical advice which has been very, very clear and what we see is Australia has one of the most conservative age ranges now, if you look at the UK, which allows AstraZeneca for 40 and above, South Korea 30 and above, Germany for 18 and above,” he told Sky News. \n\n“What our Australian medical authorities have done is look at the international evidence and said for 50 to 59s we’re now recommending Pfizer rather than AstraZeneca but if you have had your first dose please come forwards and have your second dose.”\n\nMr Hunt said the rigorous testing on the vaccine has put Australia in a good position as blood clots were discovered earlier in Australia and defended the decision to give the jab the full assessment even though it slowed the vaccine rollout.\n\n“We’ve taken cautious decisions in relation to vaccinations, I remember many said let’s just rush this vaccine in without having the full assessment process.”\n\n“That full assessment has meant we were able to detect cases earlier than other countries, treat them better but nevertheless we’re following that medical advice.”\n\n Just do away with AZ and give Pfizer to everyone! That 'medical advice' has been implemented in Europe and Canada for nearly 6 weeks, Australia must still be receiving its advice by sea mail. Keep the propaganda flowing, this government is criminally negligent. Auspol ScottyMustGo The health advice they are receiving is deceiving

Experts call for rapid antigen tests for frontline workersFederal and state health authorities should introduce COVID-19 rapid antigen tests for high-risk frontline workers, experts say, following the positive test of an air crew driver on Wednesday. Nah, voters want the PCR test cause it shows panic, long queues and more panic. Add some panic and reporters showing panic and it makes for some great daily news bulletin that will glue voters to screens onto Murdoch's channels. Yeah! More panic! First they shouldmake sure *all* front line workers are fully vaccinated before they start working. Like they said in February they would do! Victoria already using rapid testing in their high risk staff!
