Sky News host Chris Kenny says Australians won't get a "super high level" of the COVID-19 vaccine take up unless the country "opens up a bit" and gets used to the virus actually being around the place. Mr Kenny said the government needs to provide "incentives" to get vaccinated when pursuing a virus elimination strategy. "The incentives for vaccination are just not there in this country at the moment," Mr Kenny said.
"If we have a virus elimination strategy there is very little incentive to get vaccinated unless you are elderly, unless you are at risk of serious illness or death is high. "For the rest of us, the tiny risk of illness from vaccination versus the tiny risk of a serious illness or death from a virus that is just not in circulation – it's a shrug of the shoulders choice isn't it for many people.
