Sky News host Chris Kenny speaks with Mount Hotham business owner Steve Belli on the impact the new Victorian COVID rules have on the ski resort business.

From this weekend the new Victorian health directives state ski goers must produce a negative COVID-19 test result before getting on the slopes.

"Anything that gets people back up to the resorts from the metro areas is seen as a good thing, it's a little bit of an impost on people," Mr Belli said. "But we're hoping that the outbreaks in Melbourne will be coming under control in the next week or so and that we can get on with life in a COVID-normal after that."

Is this an ad? Going to Mount Hotham soon I take it Kenny?

I don’t see why people are complaining 🙄. Can’t they go and get a covid test before going. Test results are in between 12-24 hrs.

Melbourne COVID restrictions set to ease | Sky News AustraliaAn easing of Melbourne’s COVID-19 restrictions is expected to be announced within the next 24 hours following discussions between senior Victorian government ministers and health officials on Tuesday night. \n\nFrom midnight on Thursday the restrictions in Melbourne could mirror those in place in regional Victoria with the changes expected to be put to cabinet this morning.\n\nThe easing of restrictions could see a lifting of the 25-kilometre radius, two visitors allowed in the home, masks mandatory only outdoors, gyms reopened, and the cap on public gatherings and hospitality limits increased. \n Seeing all the new exposure sites I’m not sure I’m as convinced anymore… Except there is three new community transfers this morning plus two yesterday ? Hmmmm not so sure 🤔🥴🤔

Nasal spray could be more effective than current COVID vaccines | Sky News AustraliaNucleus Network Medical Director Dr Paul Griffin says the potential for the in-progress COVID nasal spray to produce more of the spike protein could prevent “people getting infected to a higher degree”. \n\nResearch is currently underway to develop a two-spray dose which, researchers hope, will replace the current range of coronavirus vaccines. \n\nHowever, Dr Griffin concedes the spray could still be “a year or two” away from public use.\n\n“It’s a little bit similar to some of the other viral-vectored vaccines but with a clever little addition that means we get a lot more of the part of the vaccine we want – the spike protein,” he told Sky News.\n\n“Ideally if it proves successful in clinical trials, it will work similarly to the other vaccines with the added benefit of actually stopping people getting infected to a higher degree, so this could be a vaccine that replaces some of the others - we could replace the jab.\n\n“It takes time to do these clinical trials so it’s probably still a year or two away if it proves successful in all of the phases of clinical trials.”
