Live: NSW Health authorities investigate possible COVID-19 transmission in hotel quarantine

NSW Health authorities are investigating the source of a COVID-19 case in hotel quarantine in Sydney which has an identical viral sequence to two other cases who were staying in an adjacent room.

Health officials say it's unclear how and where transmission occurred from a couple to another returned traveller who were all staying on the fourth floor of the Radisson Blu quarantine hotel in Sydney's CBD.Genomic sequencing has shown all three cases have identical viral sequences of the Alpha strain of the virus.

The couple tested positive on day two of their stay and the other returned traveller developed symptoms and tested positive two days later. NSW Health says transmission may have occurred on the flight, while being transported to the hotel, or at the hotel itself.
