PETALING JAYA: General practitioners in private practice will soon be involved in administering the Covid-19 vaccine, says Datuk Seri Dr Adham BabaThe Health Minister said the Special Committee on Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply has agreed to get them involved in the second and third phases of the National Covid-19 Immunisation programme.

"The exercise will be implemented to expand vaccine access to a wider population. It will be coordinated by Protect Health Sdn Bhd, a non-profit organisation under the ministry. "Its appointment was based on its experience and capabilities in registering, coordinating, monitoring quality and managing payment to private healthcare practitioners for the PeKa B40 scheme," he said.

He said Protect Health's job scope will include registering general practitioners into the programme, managing payment, conducting training, providing manuals and monitoring the vaccination programme by general practitioners.Adam said further information about the programme will be provided from time to time.

Adam said this at a press conference in Putrajaya on the developments of the national Covid-19 immunisation programme.
