Families with devastating experiences of Tasmania's child and adolescent mental health system are calling for urgent change.

CAMHS funding "does not approach" the amount required to meet Tasmania's needs

"We absolutely agree there are areas we can improve, and we embarked on this process because we recognise we do need the best possible mental health services across Tasmania.""We need to hear from the Minister for Mental Health that he is committed to releasing that final report and that the Government is committed to adopting the recommendations from that report."

The 2010 Australian of the Year said that Tasmania — and other jurisdictions around the country — had historically failed to make youth mental health a top priority.

Pay for yourself

The 'system' is working exactly as it is designed to! It is not underfunded it is a system funding organisations & egos where not one ounce of evidence of its programs value to the community they serve ever needs to be produced!

Cliched image. Please. Mental health is way more diverse than this predictable photo.

Take the tax payer money off elite private schools to fund mental health.

In OK it's so underfunded you basically cant get help for a kid until they commit a violent crime against another human being. And even then it's basically an in and out of jail vicious circle.

It starts with ear stretching & progresses to tattooing ones face. At this point it’s too late. Parents need to wake up and pay attention to their troubled kids.

All mental health services are desperately underfunded. It's often simply impossible to access genuine help at all unless you have the money for the private system.

What’s even more underfunded is young adults/ teenagers who attempt suicide and are unsuccessful and therefore in a vegetative state for life. They are required to go into a nursing home! Same with young people who have had a stroke! This is not acceptable!!
