Former Labor minister Stephen Conroy says now former Victorian Health Minister Jenny Mikakos was going to go anyway following her resignation from Cabinet. It comes as Ms Mikakos resigned from Cabinet on Saturday after Premier Daniel Andrews named her accountable for the failed hotel quarantine program at Friday’s inquiry.

“I think she was gone when the video of her standing next to another minister – Martin Pakula – where he announced that security guards would be part of the mechanism to look after the quarantine,” Mr Conroy said. “She was standing there on camera with him and then clearly forgot about it and said that she didn’t find out until months later. “So I think that she was going to go anyway.”
