MELAKA: A police report has been lodged by the Melaka Health Department about bogus officers who have allegedly taken the contact information of individuals from Covid-19 contact tracing log books.

State health and anti-drug committee chairman Rahmad Mariman said the impersonators flashed authority cards to the owners of the premises before taking away the log books kept at the entrance.

“They have no right to screen the logbooks and these fraudsters also had the audacity to replace the logbooks with new ones and place fake posters at the premises after taking away the existing ones, ” he said on Monday . Rahmad said the poster with a fake Health Ministry logo also had a signature verified by a so-called “District Local Councillor”.

“We don't know who this district local councillor is. We have never heard of this position before, ” he said.“Only police and Health Department officers have the right to check log books, ” he said.had not received police reports from business owners here, adding that the only report on the matter was made by the Melaka Health Department.
