PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry has detected a new cluster in Kedah, dubbed the “Sungai cluster”, which has two confirmed cases so far.

The two cases under the cluster are two female healthcare workers who work in a private medical centre.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the index case is a 39-year-old who experienced symptoms from Aug 30, but she had not sought treatment for it. “A Covid-19 test was conducted on Sept 5 and the case was confirmed as positive, ” said Dr Noor Hisham in a statement Monday .She tested positive for Covid-19 on Sept 5 and also developed symptoms.

“Both cases have been admitted to Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, Alor Setar and are being treated and isolated, ” said Dr Noor Hisham.Some 55 related individuals have been screened and they are still waiting for their results.
