Health director-general notes that in several countries there was a spike in cases during cold weather and also that the virus has mutated. FMTNews Covid19

Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says a possible spike in Covid-19 cases in other countries must be considered.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said although the country’s infection rate was now under control, developments in other countries – such as in India, Korea, Japan, Spain and France where there was an increase in cases during the cold weather – must be considered. At the same time, Noor Hisham said a mutation of the Covid-19 virus had made it more infectious and as such people should be on their guard and must strictly comply with SOPs.

“Under these measures, the people must comply with SOPs while on our part we prepare in terms of laboratory, clinics and hospitals so that if there is a surge in cases, we will be able to control the situation,” he said.
