too much. would not let my child do.

Given the opportunity, most athletes/competitors will choose to play.

Good grief. It’s not something to accept by just athletes. It’s something the whole world has to accept. Get busy living or get busy dying.

It’s not that complicated, give players the option to play and it’s on them if they choose to and get sick. If they don’t want to play, then don’t play. Why end it all and not give them the choice?

With socialists, no one is allowed to make their own decisions. Decisions are made for people. People can't be trusted to make decisions. That is individualism and it's bad.

If the virus is so life threatening, why haven't countless homeless people died? hmmm? They don't wash their hands, wear masks or social distance. So why aren't hey dying by the thousands?

It's all about the money....damn shame!

These are supposed to be students, and they aren't paid to play games - it seems really greedy of these schools. The schools shouldn't even be having games - they can't enforce social distancing in any real way.

C’mon, man. You are the Wall Street Journal. Shift back to journalism and stop doing nonsensical stories like this. We have enough drama in media today. Be different. Do journalism.

If only they had an extra incentive 💴

Risk the players and their families lives so colleges can make big bucks from the games. Those asking others to take a risk like this are out of their fucking minds. How much is a life worth to these selfish greedy fucks?

I love college football but this is fucked up

BECAUSE MONEY

There is no risk for the players!! CDC infection % is only 1.12% of population. Wake up!!!!!

For a fucking game

The fourth Reich, money over humans. Next step profiting off of killing humans, although 200k$ bill for those who will not survive the plague is rather close. 200k$ x 150k people is a nice chunck of medical change and the 20k a day ICU costs x 5 million people also $$$$$$

there is not going to be a season.

Dems killed opportunity in 2020. Dems killed public education Dems killed sports-really affects black athletes EducationForAll TeachersLivesMatter

What could go wrong?

They already don't get paid to put their health on the line so rich people can get richer. Why not offer to pay them exactly the same $0.00 to contract a life threatening virus? Seems okay and above board to me.

Waivers should be required. Sign and play with school paid for, or don’t. Should be the athletes choice, and both the university and conference’s obligation to make that choice a reality.

So when a coach or player dies what then ?

For the love of Money .... LMFAO

Why shouldn’t they? It’s way safer than these blm protests🤷🏾‍♂️

Every other major sport is playing. College football will be fine

NCAA: die so we can make money Student: uh okay what do I get out of it NCAA: you get to die

Typical.

Bannon提到“CCP virus ”。

All sorts of organizations are doing this, even my kid's high school. Kinda like accepting a ticket at Disney with small print.

Pay college athletes... please.

Interesting, school over life. Very interesting. What's going to happen if an athlete doesn't want to sign this waiver? Kicked off the team?

This seems smart. Schools and/businesses should protect themselves if they feel the need to.

This the basic structure of big time college sports. Athletes take the risk schools profit.

WSJ, signing a waiver DOES’T MEAN these student athletes CAN’T SUE their school for neglecting to follow CDC guidelines. The school’s are responsible for conducting their own due diligence in maintaining student safety during this pandemic. FAILURE on their part is not acceptable

Ahhh yes....the joy of being an adult and having to make choices

There's more and more info about long term effects of COVID like lung capacity and scar tissue. Could potentially impact them further down line in their athletic careers

when people ask you to sign waivers of liability, they’re asking you to engage in risk taking that their liability insurance seems too high or cannot adequately quantify, at best. At worst, they know the risks but they dont care if you can’t sue.

As much as I LOVE college basketball and football, player safety is first and foremost. If we have to do without for another season, so be it. We'll live - and so will they, literally.

I see court cases in the future

Then pay them.

I’m pretty sure athletics at all ages require medical waivers

The slave labor market must go on.
