Donald Trump says he has been taking the controversial drug hydroxychloroquine for over a week, despite studies saying it is not effective for COVID19 and could be dangerous. Get the latest on this story here:

"I'm not going to get hurt by it. It has been around for 40 years for malaria, for lupus, for other things."

The US Food and Drug Administration has warned against the use of hydroxychloroquine in COVID-19 patients outside of a hospital setting or clinical trial due to the risk of serious heart rhythm problems. Mr Trump has backed the drug as a potential coronavirus cure, despite warnings from top medical professionals in his administration. The president said he requested the drug from the White House physician and it had not been recommended by his doctor.

However in a letter to the White House Press Secretary, the president's physician, Commander Sean Conley said he and Mr Trump had discussed the merits of the drug on several occasions and"we concluded the potential benefit from treatment outweighed the relative risks".

Diary of a madman

Maybe he read the studies saying is a careful blend of hokum, tripe, and 💩.

And people bash Boris.....

We have lived with chloroquine in tropical Africa for decades without the serious side effects mentioned in literature.

Does he have any financial interest in this drug?

This has sarahcpr written all over it.

The problem is he is taking it but not ingesting it. He’s got a drawer full of the stuff. Let’s face it someone who thought Jonny Cash was change from a Durex machine and an itchy fanny was a Japanese motorbike isn’t someone we should be taking medical advice from🙄

He has got a lot of it to shift now...

He’s funny lost count of how many times he says ‘take it’ American comedians are brilliant

I’m sure I read someone died a few weeks ago after drinking this stuff when it was used to clean their fish tank.

At least there's very little chance of his brain cell being affected...

Proberly in his daily dosset box of meds, otherwise he would be wearing a white jacket😵2m 😵2m 😵2m 😷 2m😷

I think you need a mental check before you continue running the country

GuyVerhoftwat Let me correct that for you: Despite studies showing a positive effect on combatting the virus.

Well some studies say it may work and it’s not a dangerous drug in the grand scheme of things.

Just another lie. This is all to distract people that he fired the Inspector General for investigating someone on his cabinet for illegal arms sales to Saudi Arabia.

It is being trialled in the UK

realDonaldTrump are we really meant to believe this, it'd be better if he started taking laxatives; it might clear all the stuff that comes out of his mouth.
