Most of the country has loosened restrictions meant to curb the spread of coronavirus. But as Americans begin to gather again, health officials warn moving too fast could have dire consequences.

Texas had its highest single-day increase in new coronavirus cases Saturday, according to numbers from the Department of State Health Services.Restaurant and bar owners say social distancing could wipe out their industryThe state, one of the first to start reopening, reported an increase of 1,801 positive coronavirus cases on Saturday. But it's not clear whether the surge is simply due to more testing, or if the virus is spreading more rampantly.

"We all need to do our part to follow the orders and mitigation efforts so that our Reopen Butte County plan can continue to move forward," Butte County Public Health Director Danette York said. "Moving too quickly through the reopening process can cause a major setback and could require us to revert back to more restrictive measures.

Moving too slow could also have dire consequences. What would you do?

The numbers keep changing so much i can barely keep track anymore but one thing seems for certain. - 36 million in unemployment - 1.6 million cases of covid - 89k 'covid related' deaths What seems to be affecting more and can lead to to certain 'dire consequences'?

San Francisco already experienced this during the second wave of the Spanish flu.

CNN haven't you said this like a 100 times now. Copy and paste journalists at work.

This is a time to be especially careful.

SethAbramson I’m afraid Memorial Day is going to take on a whole new meaning this year.

It will get worse. What americans lack in intelligence, we make up for in confidence.

We are at home, watching history repeat itself. Naysayers, do yourself a favor and watch any documentary about the 1918 flu pandemic.

FU!
