PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia reported 40 more Covid-19 cases on Thursday (May 14), bringing the country's total number of infections to 6,819.PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia reported 40 more Covid-19 cases on Thursday (May 14), bringing the country's total infections to 6,819.

Of the 40 new cases, 31 are non-Malaysians, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah at the Health Ministry's daily Covid-19 media briefing Thursday .

Dr Noor Hisham also said 70 more patients have been discharged in the same 24-hour span, which means 5,351 patients have recovered from Covid-19 in Malaysia since the outbreak began.There are only 1,356 active cases being treated at the country's health facilities at present. There are currently 16 patients being treated at intensive care units with four on ventilator support.On the latest death, Dr Noor Hisham said the deceased is a 39-year-old man with a history of valvular heart disease and was also involved in an accident earlier this year, where he broke both his legs.

He was pronounced dead at the emergency ward of Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan in Pahang at 9.52pm on May 12.
