The Department of Health–National Capital Region (DOH-NCR) on Monday urged the public to follow guidelines under the “new normal” to avoid a second wave of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the country.

“As we shift to kung anong phase ang mairekomenda ng IATF [Inter-Agency Task Force], kinakailangan pa rin po ‘yung tinatawag nating new normal,” DOH–NCR regional director Corazon Flores said in an interview with GMA’s Unang Hirit.

Pati po ‘yung mamamayan,” she added. Measures such as social distancing, hand washing, wearing of protective equipment, as well as boosting the immune system should be observed by the public, Flores said.

Flores said that as of May 10, COVID-19 cases in the NCR has reached 6,993, with 521 fatalities, and 1,384 recoveries. Dati po nasa two to three days, ngayon po ay nasa five, six na,” she said.
