Another 14 people have died from coronavirus it was announced on Sunday night, down from a tragic tally of 33 for Saturday night.
This was made up of 430 cases from Department of Health’s own testing labs and another 297 that came back from Germany where extra testing is being done to clear a backlog.Minister for Health, Simon Harris, has given a commitment to catch up with testing so that there is no backlog by the end of this week.The total number to have died from Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland has now hit 334, while the number of confirmed cases has risen to 9,655.
The numbers of deaths here are down significantly from the 33 reported on Saturday night, while the stabilisation in the numbers of cases confirmed is also reason for optimism.12 of those who died were people living in the east and two were from the west.
