The Department of Health (DOH) warned the public on Friday against spraying or misting activities amid the threat of COVID-19.

“The DOH does not recommend spraying or misting. There is no evidence to support that spraying of surfaces or large-scale misting of areas, indoor or outdoor with disinfecting agents, kills the virus,” they said in an advisory.

The Health department said that spraying “has an additional health and safety concern as it can cause any pathogens to be dispersed further from the direct application of a spray.” DOH added that such activities may also result in skin irritation, the development of respiratory side effects, and may cause environmental pollution.

“Everyone should not spray or mist disinfectants at this time. Soak objects completely or disinfect surfaces directly to kill the virus,” the DOH said.

F DOH... why now? You could have it said earlier regarding this misting.

I think its better than doing nothing. Kaya nga we should stay home di ba para di natin masinghot yan. Baka susunod sabihin naman nila not effective ang alcohol at hand sanitizer.

Ewan ko ba dto sa DOH pabago bago ng salita... May araw wala na maniniwala sa inyo.... Spray ng spray ala naman palang kwenta sayang lang.

the virus can't thrive without a host. so, in essence, it is futile and a waste of resources to spray the roads and other open spaces because the virus (if ever present) will just naturally deteriorate there
