Breaking: A Queensland man has become the ninth Australian to die from coronavirus after he was infected with COVID-19 on a cruise ship docked in Sydney

NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller announces on the spot fines of $1000 for individuals and $5000 for corporations who flout social distancing laws, including the restrictions on outdoor fitness groups to 10 people, weddings to five people and funerals to 10 people.

As of 5.20pm, there are 2431 cases in Australia, including 1029 in NSW, 466 in Victoria, 443 in Queensland, 197 in SA, 205 in WA, 44 in the ACT, 42 in Tasmania and 5 in the NT. "Once the opportunity to avoid paying rent is made available, some tenants who do not require assistance may see the opportunity to avoid their contractual obligations.

NSW Parliament has passed an amendment giving the state government the power to ban evictions for six months, while the federal government is set to consider rent freezes later in the week.

Beyond belief that cruise ships are still going and allowed to operate. They are floating viruses.

If the cruise lines get ANY sort of financial help to stay running during this pandemic, it will be wasted on them. This is most likely the end of cruise ships, no one will want to travel on them after the virus passes. Not when they are looking like modern plague ships.

Tow them out to sea . . . they knew about Diamond Princess way back on Feb 5 . . . but still they went . . . stupidity knows no age barriers.

I’ve always hated CruiseShips... so you can imagine my feelings now...

So which ship? Ovation of the Seas? Name of victim? Name of ship’s master? Names of state & federal officers in charge of clearance? Sorry time

Very sad. Also, great job letting this cruise dock and disembark in Sydney GladysB ScottMorrisonMP

For pity’s sake. This great nation will be undone by the incompetent management of cruise ships

Very sad & I cannot fathom why these people where still going on cruises?! Coronavirus was an issue in January & yet all these cruises continued on & then let their passengers off into the community when incredibly ill. So many greedy companies who don’t value human life 😓💔
