Health authorities confirm two children, including a two-month-old boy, are among 211 new coronavirus infections in NSW — the largest rise over a 24-hour period in the state to date.

Health authorities in NSW have confirmed 211 new coronavirus infections, taking the state's total to 1,029.

It's the largest number of new COVID-19 infections over a 24-hour period recorded in the state to date. Premier Gladys Berejiklian said most of the people in NSW with coronavirus had been infected overseas or after direct contact with someone who had been overseas. "That tells us to an extent that we are maintaining some control over the virus," Ms Berejiklain said.Chief Medical Officer Kerry Chant said both had minimal symptoms and were in isolation at home.new crackdown on social gatherings announced by the Prime Minister last nightMs Berejiklian announced 1,000 extra staff would be hired to work for Service NSW to provide the information the public was"craving.
