Sen. John Hoeven purchased up to $250,000 of stock in a fund invested in health sciences companies in late January, just five days after attending a briefing on the federal government's response to the coronavirus, according to government records.

Kami Capener, a spokesperson for the senator, said in a statement that Hoeven's purchase was not motivated by the Jan. 24 briefing.
