Govt must 'lift its game, change rhetoric' as COVID-19 takes hold | Sky News Australia

The government needs to “lift its game and change its rhetoric” as coronavirus concerns take hold of the Australian economy, Anthony Albanese says. Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Wednesday outlined the Coalition’s $2.4 billion health package to assist in the fight against COVID-19, with more measures expected to be announced later this week. The Labor leader warned the Coalition's response would be a major test for the government.

“Simply put, the test for this government is whether they can keep workers in their jobs, businesses afloat and Australia out of recession – a test the former Labor government passed with flying colours,” Mr Albanese told the AFR Business Summit on Wednesday. Mr Albanese also reiterated his party would work cooperatively with the government to expedite the measures through the parliament. “Labor will examine any measures put forward by the government constructively,” he said.
