WA Australian Medical Association President Andrew Miller says “GPs have not been given the personal protective gear they need”.

WA Australian Medical Association President Andrew Miller says “GPs have not been given the personal protective gear they need". Mr Miller told Sky News “GPs see a lot more patients in a day than an emergency department and they have no gear”.

The WA AMA president compared the situation to “sending your army up the beach with no guns,” asking them “to see if there are any Turks in the sand dunes” and “holding the guns for when the big battle starts”. “If you go down to one of the COVID clinics, you will see them wearing proper gear,” he said. “GPs need the gear now, they need the facilities set up now, they’re not equipped for this. “That is the way bureaucracy works and it is not quick enough for the situation.
