US President Donald Trump has delivered an address after the nation recorded its first coronavirus death. A woman has died in Washington state after contracting the disease, making it the first fatal coronavirus case in the US since the outbreak.

Mr Trump said the virus is being “very professionally handled” and “our country is prepared for any circumstance”. He asked that the “media, politicians and everybody else involved not do anything to incite a panic because there is no reason to panic at all”. Mr Trump thanked “governors and representatives of our various states because they have really been working hard in areas where we have seen indication of the virus.
